Outreach Coordinator Summer Job
Roles
The Coordinator has the responsibility to assist people who are experiencing poverty.
• Be an ambassador for Red Bear Healing Home
• Develop and maintain community relationships | networks
• Build a sense of trust in our communities
Qualifications, Skills and Education
-
Honest, reliable, patient, non-judgmental and friendly
-
Post- secondary education or equivalent with experience working in the voluntary sector or with people who are experiencing poverty an asset
-
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; a good listener
-
Detail oriented
-
Motivated | self-starter
-
Maintain confidentiality
-
Experience, understanding and interest in First Nations culture as asset
Requirements
-
Agree to Red Bear Healing Homes principles and mandate
-
Knowledge of or interested in learning about services available to people experiencing poverty
-
Drug and alcohol free
-
Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
-
Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and
-
Refugee Protection Act2
-
Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
-
Access to the internet and a cell phone is a required/asset – this is mainly a work at home position
-
Must be able to work 30 hours per week including occasional weekends and evenings
-

Responsibilities
-
Update database of contacts, do mail merges and email posters
-
Must develop a presence at food banks, shelters, soup kitchens and community
-
Develop reports
-
Assist with accessing sponsors and gifts in kind for events and general operating
-
Develop a newsletter of events, resource and information, inspirational messages for voice mail participants
-
Contact partners
-
Assist with event to educate people about First nations spirituality (promotions, logistics, accessing sponsors and greeting guests)
-
Contact and schedule presence at shelters, soup kitchens, community hubs, shelters, food banks and events to sign people up for
-
Red Bear Connects voice mail and be prepared to provide information on community supports and services
-
Email executive director in a timely manner (daily)
-
Other duties as requested
Wage minimum wage
Term 2 months or
Start Date starting in May or June
